Mysterious Photograph

Found this incredible horror photograph and had to post it. I think it's amazing! It reminds me of a horror project I have in the works now that I can't wait to show everyone. For now, enjoy this picture that I think is super cool and definitely inspiration in my own work between, art and horror.

The Dream will be Unveiled

This past week my friend and writer Michelle Hughes posted a new excerpt blog for her site. I always love reading her vampire stories but I absolutely love this new piece of writing from her that I had to put it up here.

Enjoy this, straight from the "Tears of Crimson," Night Club!

He is calling to you from the dream, patiently he waits to share the passion he held in check. When he arrives he will show no mercy, and demand nothing less than your soul in return. His desires will unfold and demand everything you've refused, how will you be strong enough to fight the temptation of endless night? Tears will fall, hearts will discover the true price of love. In the end, eternity will refuse to be denied.

Revel in the time you have to find peace, soon your world will change before your eyes. For now, you have a choice, where will you be when the crimson tears begins to fall?

What didn't make it into the book? I'm glad you asked, because I thought I'd share it with you here today. This actually gives some great insight into the creation of Singe Tsigan, but it wasn't the way to start off a romance book. I hope you enjoy this hidden gem. It was hard to make this decision, but in the end it made sense. A quick note: This has not been professionally edited because it didn't make the cut.

The Dragon shifted his form and walked among men as one of their own. The stench of the human flesh he embedded himself in was fowl and he forced himself not to shed the covering revealing the beast that lay dormant within. Patiently he waited to unleash his wrath upon the earth. Since the descent from the heavens his anger raged against this group of life-form that his father called man. The Holy One sullied his greatness and power to give these heathen creatures a taste of the paradise they deserved not to know.

A war in heaven had started over these insignificant wastes of his fathers talents. The mighty, the Holy One’s own children, had been shunned from the throne for refusing to pay homage to his new pets. His beauty, which had been reveled by all the powers in the heavens, was stripped from the Dragon and he was cast into the deep pits of darkness. The bitterness had seeped into his soul and Singe Tsigan, the world he now claimed, filled with fires of despair for thousands of years as his hatred for all that was taken from him coursed through his being. As his anger had diminished so had the fires cooled turning to hardened earth.

During the next thousand years he created the world he was to inhabit with a mixture of the things he had once found lovely in his fathers creation. Since his sight was altered during his years of darkness, only the colors of white, black and crimson could be perceived. He loved to stand under the moons, in all his glory to be exalted by its perfect light. Sunlight lit this world not, only seven perfect moons. A large singular white orb, surrounded by six smaller crimson spheres. The only source of heat was the anger that coursed through his being. Before his exile, he had been called the morning star, his light shining so brightly most could not behold it.

From the beginning of his exile he was determined to defy his father and prove that his quest in giving immortality to the human creations was a faulty misconception. Their souls were tainted and they could not achieve greatness by a short walk of time in a deteriorating shell. His father believed that sending them to the earth would cleanse their minds of the devious plans they seemed to conjure up at whim. It was a foolish quest that was beneath his superiority to the Dragons' mind. His father had granted him free reign on earth to tempt his creations into proving their evilness. The Dragon knew it pained his father to watch his children give over to the temptations of the flesh and it only gave his hatred of the human race more ammunition.

Had they the ability to refrain from the pleasures of fornication, murder, and corruption perhaps he would have given over to his fathers will. The creatures had no remorse for the most part and continued to ravage the earth and each other with the simplest of suggestions from the Dragons minions proving they were indeed a useless, weak species. His father had pulled his pain inward and allowed havoc to reign free on earth. The Dragon created every immoral scenario that seemed to bring the creatures pleasure allowing them to damn themselves before the most Holy.

The creation of his supernatural creatures had been one of his most intellectual movements. Taking all that was human, possessing them with demons and giving them immortality more than proved his argument with irrefutable proof that these pets of his fathers could not be allowed into the heavenly realm. Better that they perish on earth than taint the pure perfection that surrounded the higher realms. The vampires had become his favorite supernatural pets and he stocked Singe Tsigan with humans, after much trial and error, for their nourishment. Even with his extraordinary powers most of the humans had not survived the trip to his world.

The few that had lived he treated as breeders and it was this plan that led to the abundance of the population here. These humans were little more than sustenance for his creations and this gave the Dragon great pleasure.
He hoped his example would soon show his father exactly how insignificant his pets were and the exile would come to an end. Many alterations had occurred on Singe Tsigan, for the humans needed fresh air and a temperature that could sustain their race. These humans remained paler than their brothers on earth as even his bright light could not fully compare to the power of the sun. They had taught themselves to harvest from the land to fill their bodily needs. He studied them with the interest of a Master but never found any true compassion for them unless he allowed them to be turned into one of his creatures when their will to live had ceased to matter.

The immortals he created could never be gifted death even if by chance their bodies were destroyed. These souls he simply reincarnated at whim so the cycle of their lives began again in human form but they would always find their vampire mate to turn them in the end. It was a ritual the Dragon kept concealed unless a love was strong enough to forge through the bonds of time and be found again.

Take a Bite out of Cyber Bullying

These illustrations are from artist Nima Sorat. A few months ago, I was asked to come up with ideas and illustrations to help the campaign against Cyber Bullying. Cyber bullying is one the things I hate the most about the internet. Whatever age you are, there is no reason why anyone deserves to by harassed and/or bullied.

The people who wanted these illustrations wanted a vampire flair to them and they came out perfect and were exactly what the campaign wanted, which was a great feeling.

Again I'm a huge advocate of people who are against Cyber bullying!

Southern Vampire Writer, Michelle Hughes

Through a mutual friend online, I met and connected with dark and amazing writer, Michelle Hughes. I found my self interested in her right away and her love for vampires, a girl after my own heart. Michelle isn't any typical vampire writer tho. In her stories she digs deep and pulls dark and sometimes erotic thoughts out of her character's subconscious which adds a whole other element to her writing. Even though her stories are fiction, there are little pieces of herself and her dreams that she expresses in her work. I enjoy that also because the stories give a personal look on life and what's it like to be in one of her character's shoes.

I've only started reading Michelle's stories and am looking forward to reading more. She has an amazing series out that I'm thrilled about, the first book being, "A Night at Tears of Crimson," which I've read and enjoyed. I can't wait to read more of her work and am glad I get the opportunity to do a blog about Michelle and her work, plus learning more about her life. Here is an excerpt on Michelle and how she went from reading romance novels to writing deep vampire stories. I myself am excited to read more from this Southern author.

From Michelle Hughes:

"As someone who lives in a small town in Alabama you might be asking
yourself how in the world I got into writing about vampires. Let me
just say when you live 45 minutes from the nearest town, you
definitely have to find ways of entertaining yourself. I began
reading Harlequin Romances as a young girl and already had a love of
Happily Ever After and at first that was where I had planned on taking
my writing adventure. When I finally decided to pursue writing as a
full-time career I attempted to do these wonderful little romances but
they just weren't exciting enough for me. I've had dreams about a
certain vampire since I was a young girl of fifteen and finally it
came to me that maybe I could share my vision of him with the world.
These dreams were very personal to me and I fought myself for a while
on opening up the darkest desires of my heart and sharing them with
strangers. I made a deal with my own subconscious that I would write
out these dreams and if I decided to just keep them as my own personal
diary of sorts, then that would be fine.

The first book in the series, A Night at Tears of Crimson, actually
sat on a shelf in my bedroom for two years before I decided that I was
ready to do something with it. I dusted off the four notebooks that
contained my hearts work and started transcribing it into my computer.
It took almost a full year of editing before I decided it was good
enough to be viewed by any eyes but my own. Basically these were
dreams that I wrote on paper so as you can imagine they had to be
shaped into some sort of logical reading order. I wrote the first
book in first person because it was me through the eyes of Cara Faith
Donovan, who was my alter-ego in the dreams. These dreams spanned the
course of my life for the last twenty-five years so each word is
essentially a part of my soul.

Ironically, as I began to transcribe from paper to computer ideas
started flooding my thoughts to the point I couldn't even keep up some
nights. It wasn't so much that I decided to write about vampires but
that a certain vampire refused to leave my thoughts long enough to let
me concentrate on anything else. Even today this vampire dream lover,
that's how I refer to my Rafe, will chastise me in my dreams if I
don't write when he gives me the ideas. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm
writing this story or if it's writing me. It's been an incredible
journey and one that I hope will never end."

I hope it never ends either Michelle. Here are some places to find her stories and books. You can also special order her work as well:

THE BODY Pt. 1

New story by horror writer Xander Grim. I always enjoy reading and posting his work especially when he puts me as a character in the story. Here's his new story. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did reading it.

The Body, pt.1

By Xander Grimm

The two lovers lay naked together in their bed, their legs intertwined, bodies glistening with sweat. A soft chuckle escaped Michelle Masters’ lips as the events of the past few months slowly crept back into her brain. Six months ago, she had been just another normal everyday African-American babe. And then he came; a silent shadow in the middle of the night, a brief, sharp pain, and her whole world was changed. She wasn’t bitter about the whole affair, far from it. Sure, sometimes she pondered about the reasoning behind his decision to convert her, but her feelings were not ones of animosity. After all, without his “intervention”, she may have never had her mind opened to the world of experiences currently ahead of her. A world that her vampiric lover Ruby was more than happy to acquaint her with.

As if she could read Michelle’s thoughts, Ruby’s head picked itself up from its resting spot about Michelle’s right breast, a small smile breaking across her lips.

“You were amazing tonight, my love”, she cooed softly,

Michelle chuckled again, and leaned down to kiss her partner on the forehead. “You weren’t so bad yourself, darling”, she said with a sly grin. A soft sigh whispered out from between her teeth as she gazed down into the face of her beloved. “Ruby?”, she asked softly.

Ruby’s eyes gazed up into Michelle’s. “Hmmm?”

Michelle sighed again. “Have you ever wondered about the intentions behind your conversion?”

Ruby frowned and shook her head. “I’m afraid not, my love. I inherited my vampirism from my mother, rather than gaining it from a bite. Sure, there was some slight unpleasantness when I hit puberty and all of a sudden I was craving blood and leaking it at the same time, but that eventually passed. Why do you ask?”

Michelle shrugged. “No reason, I guess.”

Ruby propped herself up on her elbow and stared at Michelle, her eyes sharp with concern. “You’re thinking about him again, aren’t you? Your sire?”

Michelle glanced down at her naked breasts, her voice squeaky from being found out. “Maybe a little bit…”

It was Ruby’s turn to sigh. “Darling, I thought you had gotten over this.”

Michelle pouted. “I have, for the most part. It’s just that I can’t help it sometimes. I don’t feel violated or anything like that anymore, I just want to know why. I want to know what he was thinking when he decided to turn me…”

Ruby sighed again. “If it truly means that much to you, I can talk to this guy I know. He’s a friend of the family’s from back before my grandparents moved over here from overseas. He owns a surplus store a few towns over and tends to hear a lot of gossip from both his human and non-human customers. If anyone is gonna have information on who your mystery man might be, it’s him. We’ll go talk to him later this week and see what he knows.”

Michelle smiled and leaned down to gently kiss Ruby on the lips. “Thank you, my sweet.”

Ruby smiled and lowered her head to Michelle’s breast, gently pressing her lips to her lover’s pert nipple. “No problem, my love. Now, let’s take your mind off all of this silly man talk.”

A soft moan erupted form Michelle’s lips as Ruby’s teeth closed around her nipple, her soft fingers moving down between Michelle’s legs. Soon, Michelle’s moans grew louder as they were joined by Ruby’s, and the walls of their apartment continued to echo with the sounds of their harmonious love making well into the early morning.

True Blood and Lost Boys

I recently just found this remix that I absolutely love. It's a True Blood Remix, which is always good for me, but it's played to one of my favorite songs, and the theme song to the incredible 80's vampire movie, "The Lost Boys," starring Corey Haim, Jason Patrick, Keifer Sutherland, and Corey Feldman. If you haven't ever seen "The Lost Boys," go watch it immediately. It's an incredible movie that paved the way for alot of the great horror movies and shows, including "True Blood."

THE MIND

Not too long ago, I was given a story by a new and awesome friend who goes by @XanderGrimm on twitter. Immediately when I read the story, I was in love.
The story is titled, "The Mind," and is an erotic, psychological thriller which definitely gets your blood flowing. Xander was sweet enough to let me post his amazing work up here and is currently working on a new hot thriller which may just have Moi as one of the characters. Here's his first masterpiece plus the process behind the genius. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did:

The Mind
By Xander Grimm
The shrink stares at me from across the room, a look of frustration on his face as he glances first at me, then at his watch, and then back to me again. His right leg is crossed over his left, his right foot slowly tapping the air in what would appear to be boredom. Finally, with a sigh, he speaks, his voice heavy with irritation.
“Monica, our session started fifteen minutes ago. Now, I can’t help you with these problems that you’ve been having if you don’t talk to me about them.”
I let out a sigh of my own and run my hands down my face. “Well I’m sorry doctor, but this my first time ever talking to a ‘mental health professional’, I’m kind of in uncharted territory here.”
The doctor nods and places his foot back flat on the carpet. He takes a pen and notepad from the end table next to his chair and opens the pad to the first available page. “Why don’t we just start from the beginning?”
I nod and lay my hands flat on my stomach, breathing out slowly as I begin to recall the events that led me to this little office in the middle of downtown. “I guess it started happening about six months ago. I was lying in bed one night when I thought I heard a noise in my kitchen. I went out to investigate and as soon as I stepped into the room I felt a sharp pain in my neck. Although , I suppose ‘felt’ isn’t exactly the correct word as I blacked out about ten seconds later. When I came to, it was a week later.”
The doctor raised his hand in protest and shot me a look of concern. “You blacked out for a week?! Did you notify the authorities?”
I glanced over at him and shook my head. “I thought about it, but my apartment had no evidence of a break in, everything I owned was still there, hell it didn’t even look like I had eaten any of the food I had in my refrigerator. I guess it would have been a good idea to call the police, but it just kind of seemed pointless at the time.”
He finished scribbling a couple of notes into the pad and took another look at me. “So this blackout, this is what brings you to my office today? On the phone it seemed like there were other issues at hand.”
I nodded. “There are, this was just the beginning. Ever since the original blackout I’ve been having dreams, but sometimes they feel more like memories, like I actually participated in some of the things I’m seeing. And there’s more. I’ve been having more blackouts. After the first one they only happened every couple of weeks, but lately they’ve been happening on a weekly basis, sometimes maybe two or three times a week, but those are rare occasions. And every time, I wake up in a different outfit than the one I was wearing before the blackout occurred. Sometimes I wake up naked. And I never remember anything that may have happened during that lapse in time. ”
The doctor shook his head as he continued scribbling into his notepad. “Monica I have to say, this is all very concerning. Blackouts can be signs of heart problems, lack of oxygen to the brain, and other severe health problems. But they can also be caused by other factors. If I might ask, have you ever had any issues with alcohol consumption?”
I scoff and stare at him. “I’m not a drunk, if that’s what you’re asking. I might have a glass or two of wine every once in a while, but nothing hardcore. And there’s more; lately I’ve been getting mysterious phone calls late at night. They’re not from any numbers that I know, and they always leave messages for some woman named ‘Michelle’. When they first started they were sporadic, like the blackouts, but lately they’ve become more numerous. And the other night, I answered the phone when of the numbers called, and the girl on the other line was adamant that I was this ‘Michelle’ woman! It’s driving me crazy!”
The doctor sighed softly to himself and looked up at me from his notepad. “Monica, these ‘dreams’ that you’ve been having, what are they about?”
I smile softly and stare back up at the ceiling. “They’re actually probably the weirdest part of this whole mess, aside from the blackouts of course. As I told you, they come to me as dreams, but sometimes they feel more like memories. Flashes of violent attacks, biting and scratching, blood gushing everywhere. And other times, it’s visions of sex, stuff I’ve never even thought of, much less experienced, writhing and moaning in strange beds with men and women, sometimes with just one partner, sometimes with several. And with everything, both the violence and the sex, they’re all involving people I’ve never seen before. I don’t even know what to do about them.”
The doctor nods again and sets his notepad and pen down on the end table. “Well Monica, one’s subconscious is a bizarre place, full of its own thoughts and ideas, many of which have no real connection to the real world and just pop up out of nowhere. I’m going to write you a couple of prescriptions, and I’d also like to see you again. It also might be a good idea to see your physician, if only to confirm a bill of perfect physical health. Other than that, we’re done here for today, my secretary will assist in setting up the next appointment.” He stands and extends his hand.
I smile and stand from the couch before shaking his hand. “Thank you doctor, sorry I was a little uncooperative earlier, but it felt good to vent. I’ll see you at the next visit.” I release his hand and walk towards the door to his office, stopping briefly to adjust my hair in the full-length mirror next to it, when I hear a soft gasp from behind me. I turn to see the doctor pointing at the mirror, a look of horror across his face, his body shaking. “Doctor, what’s wrong?” A dark pool appears in the middle of the shrink’s pants, he begins to scream, and I blackout.
When I wake, I am naked, and still standing in front of the doctor’s mirror, my unshielded flesh staring back at me from the polished glass. A metallic smell is heavy in the air. A speck of red at the top of my breast winks at me from the mirror, I glance down and scoop it from my skin and place it in my mouth. It’s metallic and sweet, like copper pennies mixed with sangria. And all at once, I remember. The memories of the last six months flood back into my brain like a fucking dam burst. The people I’d feasted on, but even better, the ‘people’ that I had fucked. Recalling every experience was like experiencing a lifetime of sex in one bliss-filled second. And it’s too much, even for my enhanced bodily strength. I drop to my knees in the throes of orgasm as waves of pleasure rock through my body. Finally, the orgasms break and I bend over panting, my own scent wafting up from a small puddle between my legs. My fangs slide down over my bottom lip and a huge grin breaks across my face as I turn back to look at the doctor’s corpse, laying in a pool of his own blood, his throat ripped open. “Well doc, it seems our session together helped me out more than we both thought.” I turn my gaze back to the mirror, now providing a view of nothing but the office furniture behind me. Even though I can’t see my face anymore, I can still tell that I’m grinning. And for the first time in many years, not only am I happy, but I know exactly who I am…

I love this story a lot. Here's a little background of his creative process. It's very fascinating and intriguing to me.

XANDER'S CREATIVE PROCESS:

Hello my freaky darlings, Xander Grimm here, and hopefully by now you’ve had a chance to read my short story “The Mind”, which was posted up recently here on the Horror Lovers Spot. Our lovely site mistress Ruby Violence has asked me to write a little bit of background on my thought process for the story, so here we go.
Vampire fiction has been a favorite of mine for many years and as such I have wanted to write my own, but procrastinated for some time as I could not think of anything original to really add to the genre. And then I saw an episode of Law and Order: SVU involving a woman apparently dealing with a split personality disorder. And then it hit me: what would happen if someone afflicted with a multiple personality disorder was turned into a vampire? Would the other personalities be aware of the change? Would they display the strengths and weaknesses that accompany the transformation if they weren’t aware one had occurred? Well like most of my other ponderings the idea percolated for a while before, thanks to additional information and ideas picked up from show like United States of Tara and NCIS, the plot for “The Mind” finally came to fruition.
As the first idea of mine to actually make it into a physical medium, I am naturally very excited to have it published here on the blog. Originally the story was meant to be a one-shot, just a simple short story with a curious premise, and that was it. However, the initial response from the few people that have already read it prior to its posting was so positive that I have decided to make “The Mind” part one in a trilogy of short stories starring my vampy vixen. The next installment will be titled “The Body”, and will deal with our anti-heroine attempting to track down her vampiric sire. I hope to have a sample up for you folks very soon, with the full story out by the end of the year. Well that’s about it for me at the moment, so until next time darlings, keep it dark and keep it bloody!
