THE ZOMBIE HORROR PICTURE SHOW...They LIVE for kicks, LOVE for kicks, they KILL for kicks

This concert dvd came out last month on May 19th and features Rob Zombie and his awesome band performing live in Dallas, Texas. I'm a huge music person and love going to concerts but I really hate when a singer or group sound completely different live from how they sound on their album. That isn't the case here. I've seen Rob Zombie in concert before and his shows are always amazing. This live show definitely proves it also. Throughout the dvd, you catch gritty-style black and white behind the scene action, not just at the beginning before they go on stage but throughout the concert as well. On the the dvd there is also an impressive photo gallery to check out. I really enjoyed Zombie's concert for a few reasons. The main reason is that Rob not just sings his most recent songs but also includes songs from his first band "White Zombie," such as "Thunderkiss 65," popular songs from "Hellbilly Deluxe" and "The Sinister Urge" such as "Meet the Creeper" and "Never Gonna Stop," and even songs from "House of 1000 Corpses" and "Lords of Salem." I wish he would have performed more songs from his album, "Educated Horses," but that's just me being picky. The only thing I didn't care for on "The Zombie Horror Picture Show," were how a lot of the girls there decided to start stripping in the audience during the performance. I'm not talking about just flashing the band, I'm talking about full on nudity. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for getting naked (not during a concert usually) but you could tell that these girls were just doing it because they saw the video monitors and the cameras and wanted attention. They were just annoying to me and seemed more interested in being filmed than actually listening and enjoying the show. I love and really appreciate the fact that Rob Zombie can put on a show where he and his band dress up in their zombie and monster gear, have cool and spooky props on stage, and have awesome video clips on the screen behind them, and it still doesn't take away from the pure rawness of their singing and performing which happens a lot with other bands performing live. I absolutely recommend this dvd to everyone. There are two last things I wanted to share about this dvd. First one is that I want to steal and wear Rob's pants that he performs in. They are absolutely bad ass and spooky cool. The final thing is that even if you're not a fan of Rob Zombie's films or other projects (which I personally don't see how you can't like them,) you can still enjoy a truly amazing show!

"CUSTOM BOX"

One thing I love doing is creating. Whether it's photographing, (or being photographed, painting, designing, etc. I always like to express myself any way I can. I've started a new project called, "CUSTOM BOX." Years ago after taking a few book arts classes, I realized how much I enjoyed making custom items for my self and for other people. I enjoyed thinking of new ideas to help make leave my signature on a piece of art and I did that by making my own creations. After showing the stuff that I had made to other people and getting great and encouraging feedback from them, I decided to see if I could maybe make a tiny business out of it. I had a small boutique in the Lower Haight area of San Francisco and sold handmade boxes, handmade books, special binding, and more. I've now decided to start creating customized boxes and other items for people to enjoy again. When I first sold my stuff in up North, I sold whatever I had made for my self. Now I've started making CUSTOMIZED objects on what people want. For example I just finished doing this ROB ZOMBIE box because I wanted that to be my theme. I plan on also doing boxes with PINUP,TATTOO, HORROR, CARTOON, GRAFFITI, PORTFOLIO, ADULT ONLY, and much more and I'm making my work depending on what people want. I ALSO LOVE CREATING PIECES TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED ME! Here are some examples of not only my new Rob Zombie box but other work that I've done in the past. Everything is one of a kind! IF INTERESTED , you can leave a comment here or you can hit me up on twitter at twitter.com/ruby__v. Again, if you are looking for something specific and unique, let me know and I'll do it. *PRICES VARY DEPENDING ON SUPPLIES AND TIME.

Red Riding Hood

Before I say anything else, the remade movie of "Red Riding Hood," has nothing to do with or inspire this art piece.

Here's an incredibly dark, wicked, and scary version of the "Red Riding Hood," character. It was created by Nima Sorat and here is a little blurb explaining this creepy cool image.

" This is a curious little figurine. The juxtaposition of children's rhyme and the macabre was really fascinating. Its a good idea of a visual representation of the nursery ryhms and stories from long ago. After taking the picture I opened up an unabridged and unsanatized book of daily tails and I was amazed by how the presence of danger, dismemberment, or death was nearly in everyone of them." -N.S

Deadly Femme Fatale

New and incredible drawing created by illustrator, artist, and writer, Nima Sorat. Just like me, he has a turn on for women being strong, powerful, and sometimes a bit crazy!!!

Enjoy this drawing and quote, straight from the illustrator's mouth:

"The drawing is of some femme fatale character who shot some fella in the tub. Don't know what exactly the chap did,but she let him have it regardless. -N. Sorat

Nick Kushner’s Les Crimes De L’Amour at Studio Servitu

This past Saturday Night, I went to an incredible art show at one of my favorite places, Studio Servitu, hosted by my sexy minx girls, Jane Jett and Miss Crash, promoting artist Nick Kushner. He is an artist who dabbles in very personal and intimate intense work, including using his own blood in his work. His work is amazing and he actually did a small performance piece that night showing how he cuts him selves and literally puts himself and his body into his work. It was a very interesting experience to see and was exquisite at the same time. He also had some pieces displayed in charcoal and pencil were just as amazing.
It was a wonderful time Saturday night and I of course loved seeing fellow artists, and my friends, and enjoyed playing while seeing some amazing work at the same time.

Here is a brief artist statement of Nick Kushner of his work and what he produced Saturday night and some photos taken on Saturday Night.

I can also say too that Studio Servitu and the two amazing hosts, Jane and Crash never cease to amaze me with their nights at the Studio.

HOSTED BY STUDIO SERVITU .·. DJ TWIGGY RAMIREZ
Live Blood Signing .·. Evil Wine+Absinthe Bar .·. Salient Performances
Sponsored by Evil Wine, Jade Asbinthe, Monster Energy Drink & Lip Service

On 09.10.11 New York based artist Nick Kushner will be hanged at Studio ServitĂș in Los Angeles. 'Les Crimes De L'Amour' marks Kushner's first solo exhibition displaying his signature works which speak of disillusionment & pain through the themes of love, death, and abuse - but of the ultimate catharsis that can be attained through the artistic distillation of the emotions evoked by these, most notably by the medium he uses to create them - his own blood.

Kushner likens his work to "Art as modern-day alchemy by the literal and complete immersion within it, unleashing the schism of transformation and inflicting the vision of the innermost catharsis upon the world through its creation. Works meticulously detailed in esoteric imagery, and painted in blood, the most personal and symbolic medium intrinsically possible", tapping into the darker recesses of the human psyche with surreal imagery that is driven not only by his knowledge of the occult, but by life experience as well.

He will be premiering new works as well as a retrospective compendium of his catalogue at ServitĂș which will be augmented by a full aural presentation of image projections, a set by Marilyn Manson guitarist/songwriter DJ TWIGGY RAMIREZ, sanguine stained walls, star studded performances, appearances and presenters. A live blood signing will be held for those who acquire prints exclusively available for the evening.

Also definitely check out this link and google Nick's name to see more information on this incredible artist. http://www.lescrimesdelamour.com/

Tattoo Horror and the movie, "The Tattooist."

Ok you all know that I love body art and I decided to post a little blog on some of my favorite horror-themed tattoo images. It relates to me a lot too because I have some scary kind of tats on me plus some of my other horror lover girlfriends such as @BellaVendetta66 and @GoreWhoreNos. I'll soon be doing a post on other body modifications as well but first things first.

Movie wise, I recommend seeing the film, "The Tattooist." It's definitely borderline horror and thriller and came out in 2008 in New Zealand. It isn't a pure favorite of mine but I still recommend seeing the demons that the tattoo artist in the movie and the girl, Sina encounter. Here's a brief synopsis of the film:

"Tattoo artist Jake Sawyer (Jason Behr, looking smokin’ hot) is renowned for using his tattoos to heal people and utilizes symbols from many various cultures and religions to do so. At a tattoo convention in Singapore, he is intrigued by a group of Samoans performing their traditional tatau on a man. Well, truthfully he is intrigued by a woman, Sina (Mia Blake), that is part of the Samoans group. He ends up swiping an old, ritualistic tattoo tool from the Samoans, but when he cuts himself on the tool, he unwittingly releases a vengeful spirit that kills anyone he tattoos by basically flooding their bodies with tattoo ink.

Before Jake realizes he’s got a demon on his back, he heads down to New Zealand to catch up with the Samoans to learn more about their tattooing practices and also to return the tool, which has brought him some wicked visions. He’s also keen on reuniting with Sina. He gets a job and a place to live through an old tattooing buddy at a tattoo shop called Bedlam, but when he starts tattooing clients, they end up dying grisly deaths soon after.

Can Jake figure out how to stop this curse and figure out just who the spirit is before more people die, including the newly inked Sina?" Definitely check it out. You can see the movie poster here.

In the meantime, here are some horror-themed tattoo images that look amazing to me. If you have some yourself or want to submit more, please by all means, let me know. I always welcome contributions. Enjoy!
